FAMILY THERAPY
Family therapy offers families a space to slow down patterns that may be creating conflict, disconnection, or misunderstanding and begin building new ways of relating to one another. Family therapy looks beyond any one person to understand the relationships, communication patterns, and roles shaping the family as a whole.
Together, we work to create space for each family member to feel heard and understood while strengthening communication, emotional safety, trust, and connection.
Family therapy may be helpful when families are navigating:
- Frequent conflict or communication difficulties
- Parent-child or caregiver-child relationship strain
- Emotional distance or disconnection
- Difficulty expressing needs or feelings
- Changes in family roles, routines, or relationships
- Grief, stress, or difficult experiences affecting the family
- Challenges related to neurodiversity
- A desire for greater connection, trust, and understanding
An Attachment-Focused Approach
Julia’s family therapy work is informed by Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), an attachment-focused and systemic approach that helps families better understand the emotions and needs underlying their interactions and build more secure patterns of connection.
For clients under 18, therapy begins with an initial parent/caregiver-only intake appointment before sessions involving the child or adolescent. From there, Julia works collaboratively with families to determine how sessions can best support the family’s needs and goals.
